Oh good lord the summer is one thing here in the south but lets go ahead and add the fact that I am in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy! So surviving my first round of this in my final trimester I decided to help you guys with what tips and tricks I have figured out.
Basic Essentials
Water Bottles
Girl you are going to need a new water bottle like your life depended on it! I swear Bryar and I have talked about just having a couple of cases of water by the bed. I have never been so thirsty in my life. It doesn't matter how often or how much water i’m drinking, I feel so dehydrated!
Handheld fans!
I honestly ended up just getting a super cheap one from walmart, it was only a dollar or two but it made all the difference in being outside with the dog.
Safer bug spray
You want to make sure that the spray is safe for pregnancy, my personal favorite is OFF! Deep Woods. Another good one is Cutter All Family Insect Repellent.Either one is on amazon and easy to find.
Sunscreen
Don't forget to have your sunscreen on at all times. HOnestly this is something (as such a pale girl like myself) I am very adamant about. Something that a lot of people don't tell you about is that you need some sunscreen on all year round no matter what the weather is!
Summer Maternity Clothes
For me I have been sticking with sundresses, skirts and shorts with t-shirts.
Walmart, Shein and amazon! Flowy and short is my favorite option! As far as actual maternity clothes I really have just been getting one or two sizes up in normal clothes, I have gotten very few actual maternity pieces. Don't forget to grab a maternity swimsuit or just grab a two piece whatever you’re most confident/comfortable in. I actually already had a one piece that stretched out over my bump perfectly, I found it at target a couple of years ago, I would absolutely check it out there!
All the Tips
Have all the pool days! There are different ways of doing this for anyone like me renting a house that doesn't have a pool, an adult inflatable pool (I found a few from amazon) is perfect!! Most of them are definitely on the affordable side. Even just a kiddy pool at walmart is nice, you just want something to cool off.
Now, Napping might be my absolute favorite thing, sleeping in the hottest part of the day in front of the fan/AC is beyond nice. I usually like to change into shorts and a sports bra so i’m even more cooled off, if you’re like me being pregnant has meant I am constantly sweating in my sleep!
Lets not forget about water! Honestly the best thing that I have figured out in this whole thing is EAT your water! You read that right, don't get me wrong I definitely drink plenty of water, I have always tried to keep up with that just for health sake but when you're pregnant it is so easy to get dehydrated. SOOO watermelons, apples, strawberries, these fruits have about 88%-92% water content in them. Meaning staying hydrated just got WAY easier.
I think my last little tip would have to be popsicles, ice cream and sno-cones! I have lived off of these three things and our little peanut literally dances for them when I eat them. It keeps me cooled of and Ice cream is the perfect cold treat that includes some of that extra calcium that you need!
I hope that this little list helps you ladies the way it has been helping me!
